National Judicial Colloquium on HIV/AIDS and Law

19th -20th May 2007

Human Rights Law Network, in conjunction with UNAIDS, held a National Judicial Colloquium in New Delhito discuss the role of the judiciary in responding to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in India HIV/AIDS and the law, lessons which can be drawn from the South African experience, section 377, mandatory testing, provider-initiated testing, workplace discrimination and patents.

National Judicial Colloquium On The Right To Food

27th – 28th August 2005

The Supreme Court of India, in the public interest litigation of PUCL vs. Union of India (case number WP(C) 196/2001 in the Supreme Court of India), has passed a number of important orders to advance the right to food. It is the first Supreme Court in the world to recognize, both, the right to food and intervene specifically on this issue taking steps to tackle the issue of malnutrition and to reform and strengthen the food security system in India.

Paralegal certificate course in human rights and the law

4 month course – next intake February 2008

This course is intended for NGO staff, social workers, activists, journalists, students, doctors, engineers and others.  It aims to give a thorough understanding of Human Rights law and practical, hands-on advice on how to apply the law in real life situations.

The course runs for 4 months with training taking place every Saturday between 2.00pm and 5.00pm.  The training is given in Marathi or Hindi.
