This petition focuses on the serious denial of reproductive rights, right to health and the right to food which have impacted on the right to human dignity of a woman named Fatma, (24 year old), who homeless and lives under dire illiterate. On the 29.05.2009 Fatma was forced to deliver her child under a tree in full public view, whilst she was under-going serious fits and in a dangerously critical health situation, with no access to skilled health care and/or medical guidance.
Fatma’s pregnancy had not been registered, and thus she was denied all the entitlements set under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) 2005-2012 and Integrated Child Development Scheme. Fatma has suffered grave abuse in accessing her reproductive rights as obligated under both the Indian Constitution and International legal treaties signed and ratified by the Union of India.
This petition also highlights the corrupt action of Maternity Home, MCD situated at Jangpura, who, in order to escape accountability have falsely recorded in their hospital records that the victim – Fatima gave birth at their medical institution.
