The Legal Case Series provide a concise summary of the main facts, legal arguments, and court orders in HRLN's public interest litigation and individual litigation cases. The Series should act as a legal resource for advocates and social activists who are committed to ensuring that human rights violations perpetrated by the State and its authorities do not go unchallenged.
First in the MERA HAQ series are two historic cases of Jaitun v Maternity Home, MCD, Jangpura & Ors W.P. 10700/2000 and Laxmi Mandal v Deen Dayal Hospital & Ors W.P. 8853/2008, in which the Delhi High Court ordered compensation for the breach of constitutional and reproductive rights of two impoverished women.
