Jamuni Devi Vs State of Jharkhand &Ors [W.P.(Cr)No. 268/2014], Hon’ble High Court of Jharkhand A criminal writ petition was filed by the petitioner to seek justice for his daughter who was abducted at the minor age of 13 from Ranchi and was missing since 2012. The petitioner had the information that the daughter was placed as a domestic worker in Delhi and thus prayed that the respondent should be directed to produce the minor in the court as well as punish the traffickers under the suitable provision of criminal law. The case was taken up by the Division Bench on 27-01-2015 wherein the Hon’ble Court was not satisfied with the counter affidavit filed by the State and thus the Superintendent of Police, Ranchi was directed to look into the matter. After the order was passed, the investigating officer went to Delhi in search of the girl and camped there for about ten days but unfortunately, the girl could not be traced.  The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submitted that it would be better to entrust this case to Anti-trafficking Unit working under the CID to investigate the case as they do have expertise in the matter. Currently, the victim girl has reached her place of residence at Ranchi. As per her statement she was brought home by the driver under whom she was employed as a maid for a period of four years. Her statement was recorded before the Magistrate Court wherein she narrated exactly what happened to her during this long time away from home. The case was taken up on 17.03.2017 by the Division Bench of High Court was disposed of with liberty to file necessary application by the petitioner or by the prosecution before the trial court.
