Compensation awarded to the Victims of Acid Attacks

Ashrafula and his brother, both minors lost their mother who was attacked with acid by their own father. The father after committing the heinous crime escaped despite the FIR been registered. Both the children were reduced to orphans.
The Petitioners pray for compensation under “Relief and Rehabilitation of Women Acid Victims”, notified by the Government of Haryana on 16.1.2014. As of 23.2.2016 despite repeated representations, the amount has still not been paid. If the petitioners are held entitled to compensation, it shall be ensured that the amount goes to the rightful claimants and not misappropriated by any other person.
Status
The Petitioners, that are the two children, have been granted a compensation amounting to Rs. 5 lakh under the Relief and Rehabilitation of Women Acid Victims scheme.
