Jharkhand high court okays 25% reservation for disadvantage kids in private schools

Rajan Kumar Singh versus Union of India and ors. L.A. No. 5625, 5746 & 5918 of 2014 P.I.L. No. 3731 of 2014 SLIC had filed an FIR for the education of disadvantaged children in Ranchi. In response, in a historic order, the Jharkhand High Court ordered 25% reservation of seats for children belonging to weaker sections and disadvantaged groups. It also directed that other candidates were not to be admitted in these reserved seats. Jharkhand High Court have also directed all private schools of Jharkhand to issue a notice mentioning the admission of these children and also directed the state to publish the 'Below Poverty List' on its website. The high court has also appointed district superintendent of education as a Nodal officer for this purpose.
