Category: Crime against women In the public interest litigation under Article 32 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner, a registered NGO, seek to highlight the plight of the acid attack victims and the inadequacy of the compensation payable to the victims as per the orders of the Apex Court in Laxman v. Union of India. The petitioner also highlighted the lack of legal guarantee to free medical care, rehabilitative services or adequate compensation under the Survivor Compensation Schemes. The Supreme Court directed all the States and the Union Territories to consider the plight of such victims and take appropriate steps with regard to inclusion of their names under the disability list.
