Archana Rupwate

Mumbai Archana decided to become a lawyer, changing tracks after a graduate degree in English literature in a vernacular medium from a rural college. Her decision was driven by the fact that very few women in her neighbourhood took up law as a career. After graduating in law from the University of Pune, Archana dabbled with commercial practice at the District Court in Nashik. She then associated herself with a Woman Rights Lawyers group in Mumbai and volunteered with the Woman Justice Initiative of SLIC’s Mumbai office. Today, Archana is with the litigation division of the SLIC Mumbai office, working in both Criminal and Family Courts in Mumbai.
