On the 10th of July 2019, the Union Cabinet passed the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019. It was a part of the priorities of the Social Justice and Empowerment ministry in the first 100 days agenda of the present government. Surprisingly there was no consultation before introducing the bill again in the cabinet again. The following is a critique of the same bill, which was opposed tooth and nail by members of the community from across the country.
