Order issued to the State of Haryana to release funds for the treatment of Acid Attack Survivors

Aruna Tripathi Vs. State of Haryana Aruna Tripathi is an old acid attack survivor. She was not considered eligible for any kind of medical treatment and compensation by the state scheme for 'Relief and Rehabilitation of Women Acid Victims' to provide ad hoc relief/compensation/medical reimbursement and rehabilitation services to women acid attack victims is a social beneficial legislation under a case prior to May 2011. The Petitioner prays that the survivor is still in need of treatment which was stopped due to paucity of funds by the survivor. The family background of the survivor is also mentioned to show that she is incapable of paying for the treatment. During the pendency of the petition, another application was moved by showing a certificate issued by the approved hospital of the State where in it was clearly mentioned that she is in need of treatment. Status The petition is still pending but an interim direction is issued to the State of Haryana to release interim compensation of Rs.1,50,000/- to the petitioner to enable her to carry on with the treatment.
