Rescued Bonded laborers in Kurla to get Interim cash assistance as per the Central Sector Scheme for Rehabilitation Bonded Labour, 2016

On 26/08/2019 during a raid  by the sub divisional magistrate in Eastern Suburb Kurla (W), Mumbai at Sushant kar Gold Smith
Workers, Dev Bhojnalaya and Ma Sundar Bhojnalaya, etc 7 adolescent laborers around 13-14 years were found involved in Bonded labour. All 7 children were rescued by district administration on 26.08.2019 and FIR No. 371/2019 was registered under Section 344, 370 and 374 of the Indian Penal Code, under Section 75 and 79 of the Juvenile (care and protection) Act, 2000 and Section 16, 17 and 18 of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976. Subsequently, chidlren were issued release certificates.

The Central Sector Scheme for Rehabilitation of Bonded Labour, 2016, the bondade labourers are entitled to the interim cash assistance worth Rs. 20,000 by the District Administration. 

The Petitioner assailed the inaction of the Collector before the Bombay Hon'ble High Court on the Writ Petition being WP (L) 799 of 2020 Vijay ram ( Minor) through father & Ors. Vs. District Collector , Sub -urban Mumbai &   Ors. 

The Order of the Hon'ble Court dated 16/10/2020 effected direction to decide the application by National campaign committee for eradication of bonded labour before 25/11/2020 for  rehabilitation of bonded laborer. The Collector in furtherance of the Order wrote to the Upper Chief Secretary for release of rehabilitation amount for all the 7 rescued children.
